Join the YWCA Metropolitan Chicago’s Sexual Assault Prevention Education Team!
Volunteers work with a team to present Sexual Violence Prevention Programs to school personnel and designated students in local DuPage County K-12 schools. Our policy is to only have comprehensively trained individuals, work directly with students and survivors. No degree required. Training will be provided.
All volunteers must meet the requirements below.
- Must be available to volunteer between the hours of 7:30am - 4pm.
- Requires a mobile phone.
- Personal vehicle and valid driver’s license required.
- One-year commitment required with a one-two day weekly availability.
- Flexible scheduling - volunteers only work on days that schools are in session.
- We are looking to expand our Spanish speaking team.
Volunteers are required to complete a mandatory 40-Hour Crisis Intervention Training at a cost of $65.00. Training takes place quarterly. Additionally, volunteers must attend a four-day in-person prevention training. Prevention training schedule is dependent upon interest.

Description
The YWCA Metropolitan Chicago provides assistance to survivors of sexual violence, educates about the effects of violence in our community, and promotes general health and wellness through our Sexual Violence Support Services.
The YWCA Medical and Criminal Justice Program helps to reduce the trauma an help with the healing process. Advocates provide emotional support and information during the medical and criminal justice procedures to sexual assault survivors, non-significant others, and non-offending family members. Medical advocates provide 24-hour support to survivors. Legal advocates provide support through police and court proceedings.
The YWCA offers prevention education services to schools, youth-based focused agencies and professionals. Prevention education services prepare students, teachers, parents and professionals to recognize and prevent abusive behaviors. The YWCA also instructs parents and teachers about the dynamics surrounding violence and provides support if an incident occurs.

- Flexible scheduling - Volunteers only work on days that schools are in session. Parents who have children in school and retired teachers have valuable experience and insights, making them excellent candidates for this role.
- Mandatory 40-Hour Crisis Intervention Training is a blend between self-study and evening virtual sessions. Volunteers must attend all evening virtual training sessions.
