Volunteer positions! Do you have a passion for helping disadvantaged youth and possess coding expertise? If so, we are looking for enthusiastic, patient, and tech savvy volunteer to lead an Apple iPad coding program for youth.
This volunteer position is for the SAN JOSE PUBLIC LIBRARY Bascom Branch Library, part of San Jose Public Library.
The program could be a one off or an ongoing series.
We are open on the app/program, so long as the coding class uses an iPad for instruction. The volunteer coding instructor would put together the curriculum; however, there a wide array of free instructional materials available online. We are also open to teens holding the program (at least 15 years of age). Volunteers age 18 years and older would require fingerprinting (done at the city's expense).
Some of the suggested programs include the following:
- Swift Playgrounds
- Sphero Edu
- FlipaClip
- Stop Motion
- Sketches
Interested candidates please email Lisa Molson @ Lisa.molson@sjlibrary.org
PLEASE NOTE, teens must directly inquire, not parents, for this volunteer opportunity.
Thank you!
