As America’s largest volunteer network for people aged 55 and older, AmeriCorps Seniors (RSVP) in NYC is proud to support the great work that you and our community partners can do! This season, several NYC Hospitals need people like you to serve as Greeter, Office Administrators, Hospice Workers and more! Help staff maintain patient and family morale in waiting rooms by delivering snacks and treats to those waiting for friends and family for a few hours a day, keeping an orderly office or being a friendly face to those in emergency care. Current opportunities to serve are in Manhattan, Staten Island and Queens.

Mission Statement

AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP in New York City was started in 1966 by the Community Service Society (CSS), an over 170-year-old nonprofit agency. CSS's mission is to identify problems which create a permanent poverty class in New York City, and to advocate the systemic changes required to eliminate such problems. CSS will focus on enabling, empowering and promoting opportunities for poor families and individuals to develop their full potential, to contribute to society, and to realize social, economic, and political opportunities.

Description

AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP in New York City matches adults 55 and older with meaningful volunteer opportunities at New York City nonprofits. With more than 2,300 volunteers, our program is one of the largest senior volunteer programs in the nation. There are over 600 of us which operate nationally and many that do so internationally. We match volunteers on the basis of interests and abilities, community needs, geographic convenience, and experience.
