Volunteer with us! Help our ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) students gain a better understanding of conversational English.
Sign up today to become a conversational partner to our ESOL students and help them practice their English. All it requires to volunteer is English proficiency and at least an hour commitment to a session each week for a 7-week period. Our Conversation Partners program will take place every Tuesday 6:30 P.M to 7:30 P.M and Wednesday 11:00 A.M to 12:00 P.M. Volunteers are welcome to sign up for the shift that best fits their availability or choose to join during both shifts.
Volunteers will be partnered with 3-4 students to practice conversations in English. Each conversation will last no longer than 30 minutes. The conversations will be through Zoom with suggested topics provided to volunteers so that they have guidance on what the students are learning and practicing. We want to use this opportunity to help our students with learning a new language and gain confidence in using English in their day-to-day lives. This will be a meaningful experience for all partners involved.
Conversation Partners sessions are set to officially begin from May 7th, Tuesday and will last until mid-April. A volunteer's orientation will be conducted a week prior to the start date where more instructions and guidance will be provided to the volunteers.
