The Holiday season is right around the corner. Every year, The Salvation Army rings bells at stores across town. The funds collected through the kettles throughout the Christmas season supports The Salvation Army’s programs for children, veterans, families, and disaster relief in Marion and Polk Counties.

We need volunteers to ring bells. Your time and joy helps the Salvation Army bring joy to families all year long. Sign up to ring bells at a location near you. We are more than happy to accommodate your schedule. Usual volunteer shifts are two hours long but we are flexible!

Ring with friends, family members or groups. Sing carols or play an instrument. Spread cheer this Christmas season by ringing bells.

Mission Statement

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Description

The Salvation Army was founded in 1865 in England by William Booth, and his ministry as been spreading throughout the world ever since. The Salvation Army arrived in Salem, OR in 1886. For over 125 years we have been feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, and helping the disenfranchised, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with shelter, food, and other basic needs. The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center opened in the Fall of 1999.

Making all this run requires the help of hundreds of volunteers. Whether you volunteer once for a special event, or on an ongoing basis, we need people with willing hearts and cheerful attitudes to serve the Salem-Keizer community.
