Are you interested in helping the Pentagon Memorial Fund remember those lost on September 11, 2001?

The National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial, dedicated in 2008, remembers the 184 heroes lost at the Pentagon. The victims’ families, friends, and survivors of the attack continue to tend this history and welcome the hundreds of thousands who visit the site. We need the help of dedicated volunteers to help us interact with visitors interested in this history. This rewarding opportunity to represent the Memorial by greeting visitors, answering questions, and listening to those who want to share their impressions of the Memorial and memories of September 11.

The Memorial is available to the public 24x7 and is easily accessible via the Pentagon Metro, public parking, and a drop-off zone. This provides maximum flexibility for volunteers to provide support on their schedules. We ask our docent volunteers to provide at least three hours per month at the Memorial.

The Pentagon Memorial Fund will provide qualified volunteers with an on-site orientation of the history and design of the Memorial from one of our dedicated volunteers. Volunteers will be rewarded with a new appreciation and understanding of this important event that continues to impact all of us.

Description

The 9/11 Pentagon Memorial, which commemorates

the attack on our Nation’s Capital, in the heart of the

world’s greatest military force, welcomes up to

1 million visitors a year. A solemn tribute to the 184 lives

that were lost, it is nonetheless incomplete without an

Education Center-the type of facility already in place

at the other two sites of the day's attacks-to provide

context and assist with understanding.
