FOOD: PATH Mission Valley Food Distribution
ORGANIZATION: PATH (People Assisting the Homeless)
Please visit the new page to apply.
Reduce food insecurity and strengthen community bonds by helping distribute food at one of PATH's supportive housing sites.
Volunteers will begin the shift by moving food donations from the kitchen (walk-in fridge, counters, cabinets) into the food distribution area. Volunteers will then sort and categorize the donations (dry goods, bakery, vegetables, fruit, etc) while ensuring the quality and freshness of each item. Once categorized, volunteers will assemble 40 to 45 food bags depending on the inventory of donations that week.
Volunteers then distribute the bags to individuals as they line up in the courtyard of the complex. After the distribution, volunteers will clean the area by breaking down any boxes, sweeping the floor, wiping counters and throwing out remaining trash.
