Most Food Cupboard Volunteers assist customers in shopping for and selecting healthy food in St Andrew's Food Cupboard's well-designed market area. A smaller number of Food Cupboard Volunteers help in receiving and stocking food deliveries and in carrying boxes of food to customer vehicles.

Mission Statement
ST. ANDREW’S FOOD CUPBOARD MISSION STATEMENT: We are a volunteer ministry that strives to alleviate food insecurity by providing nutritious food to our neighbors in need, clothing to the community and safe, affordable housing. We advocate for our clients with referrals to agencies which provide other services as needed.
Description
St. Andrew's Food Cupboard is an all-volunteer non-profit social services agency that provides a variety of healthy food and a showroom of usable clothing and bedding to low-income residents living in the northeastern section of Rochester, New York. The Food Cupboard is open in the morning four days each week and serves customers who do not need appointments to access services. All operations and services are provided free of charge. St. Andrew's Food Cupboard is funded entirely by donations from a variety of individuals, churches, schools, trusts and other organizations. It relies on an association with Foodlink as its main source of food items, and is piloting Foodlink's Healthy Choice Food Program. The Food Cupboard regularly accepts additional food donations from several companies including Wegmans, Walmart, Panera, Tops and KFC. Gently-used and new clothing is accepted from individuals, charitable groups, and church-affiliated organizations. Because it relies on volunteer staff, it always accepts inquiries from those interested in a regularly-scheduled volunteer activity.
