Tending the Garden
Use and maintain a wide variety of gardening tools, supplies and equipment to maintain the garden. Work may involve standing for extended periods, bending, kneeling and lifting supplies (up to 25 lbs). Responsible for species identification, labeling, planting, weeding, watering and pruning. If interested, work may also be done in the five-acre restored tallgrass prairie. Master Gardener certification preferred.
Giving Talks
Provides pre-established talks normally following a prescribed outline and requiring application of broad subject-matter knowledge of the features of interest peculiar to the site. Such talks include detailed and specific interpretation and explanation of the outstanding features of the site from the standpoint of historical or natural interest, the background of events; the facts, events, personalities and circumstances focusing on the importance of Fort Scott from 1842 - 1873.
