This partnership project is managed by the Oregon Public Health Division located in Portland, Oregon. The VISTA Leader interacts directly with the Project Director and co-VISTA Leaders to collaborate on various projects that support AmeriCorps members on the team in a variety of ways. The Leader will serve in a hybrid teleservice model at our state office in Portland’s Lloyd District. The Oregon Health Authority AmeriCorps VISTA Partnership Project was founded in 2009 and is embedded in the state public health preparedness program, Health Security, Preparedness and Response (HSPR). We work with public health, medical, tribal, federal, state, and emergency management partners across the state of Oregon. Selections are made on a rolling basis and early applications are strongly encouraged. The last day to submit an application is October 16, 2023. Qualified candidates will possess the following traits and express desire to learn:

Member Duties : We are recruiting for two VISTA Leaders who will be responsible for co-leading the OHA AmeriCorps VISTA Fall 2023 cohort, consisting of approximately 10-20 AmeriCorps members while serving with the larger OHA AmeriCorps leadership team to support all-team activities. The Leader serves as ambassador, facilitator, educator, liaison, mentor, recruiter, and resource generator for the team. Responsibilities include planning trainings for AmeriCorps members, coordinating virtual and in-person meetings, resolving conflict, solving problems, managing social media content, public speaking, and recruitment of new members. Members on the team serve across Oregon to fight poverty, and the Leader position plays a critical role in supporting these efforts. The Leader position is open to former AmeriCorps members or returned Peace Corps volunteers who have demonstrated exemplary skills and leadership in community service (and completed at least 50% of their service term if affected by COVID).
