We are a fairly new nonprofit organization and we would be delighted to enlist the help of a couple volunteers with fundraising/grant writing experience that can help us make a bigger impact.

Lockhart Cares provides much needed mentorship to youth in Miami Dade and Broward Counties that have experienced or are currently experiencing foster care and other life challenges.

About LOCKHART CARES INC

Location:

7208 SPORTSMANS DR, N LAUDERDALE, FL 33068, US

Mission Statement

Lockhart Cares, Inc. connects our most vulnerable populations (families, foster care organizations, and other agencies) to safe and much-needed transportation options to maximize community members’ quality of life and ensure continuity of life-changing services.

Description

Lockhart Cares, Inc. is a transportation company that does so much more. Through advocacy and mentorship, our passengers receive a continuity of services from their school day to after-school programming or athletics to the place they call home. Our drivers and transport aides are equipped with the skills to provide safe and reliable care during the trip and make referrals to outside organizations when needs are identified. Lockhart Cares doesn’t just drive kids, it helps them drive their future.

Lockhart Cares Mentors have the unique role of working with youth to provide a solid support system and be a reliable trusted adult in the young person’s life. Many of our youth have not had a solid foundation or positive role model in their lives. Our goal is to develop long lasting relationships between the mentors and the mentees.

Individual goals are created to empower youth, and to master life skills that enhance his/her future success in life.

All mentors are required to participate in a rigorous Federal, State, and Local background check, and 8 hours of training. All mentors are required to spend 2 hours a week with their mentee.
