The Santa Cruz Public Libraries ("SCPL") is accepting applications for volunteers to fill vacant positions. This is an unpaid position that does not lead to permanent employment. SCPL delivers information, education, enrichment and inspiration through a network of neighborhood library branches, a web-based digital library, a Bookmobile and community-based programs. SCPL serves children, teens and adults with innovative programming, professional services and community facilities that spark imagination and support discovery.
Overview of Opportunity: The Advisory Council of Teens ("ACT") provides advice and support to staff in planning and implementing teen services and programming at the Santa Cruz Public Libraries. Under general supervision of teen services librarians, volunteers assist with programming at the library, including the annual Summer Reading Program, college readiness programs, and CHP Start Smart Teen Program. Recently, ACT members have worked on animation workshops, finance classes, and the Japanese Cultural Fair. ACT members participate in special events during the summers and weekends in the school year.
