We believe that education is a powerful tool for breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for underserved communities. Our mission is to provide guidance, mentorship, and resources to students who aspire to pursue post-secondary education.

Job Description:

Believe in Me is seeking a dedicated and skilled Volunteer Data Integration Specialist to support our mission by researching, collecting, and integrating data related to American scholarship funding sources, and primary, secondary, and post-secondary academic institutions. The data integration architecture you create will serve as the foundation for an app designed to assist first-generation college attendees in navigating the complex journey from exploring the idea of pursuing higher education to obtaining their diploma and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Research and Collection:

  • Identify and gather data from various sources, including scholarship websites, educational institutions, government databases, and career resources.
  • Ensure data accuracy, relevance, and completeness.

Data Integration and Architecture:

Career Path Exploration:

  • Research and incorporate data about various career paths, job markets, and industry trends to aid students in career exploration.

College Selection Support:

  • Provide data on different colleges and universities, including admission requirements, programs, and financial aid options.
  • Implement features to assist students in selecting the right institution based on their goals and preferences.

Application Process Assistance:

  • Offer guidance on the college application process, including deadlines, required documents, and standardized testing.

Mentoring and Support:

  • Collaborate with mentors and educators to develop features that facilitate ongoing mentorship and support for first-generation college students.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  2. Proficiency in data integration tools and databases (e.g., SQL, ETL tools).
  3. Strong research and data collection skills.
  4. Familiarity with scholarship resources, educational institutions, and career-related data.
  5. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  6. Commitment to Believe in Me's mission of empowering first-generation college attendees.
