The vision of West Tuality Habitat for Humanity is a community where everyone has a safe, decent, and affordable place to live. We believe affordable housing plays a critical role in strong and stable communities and is a foundation for breaking the cycle of poverty. The ReStore plays a CRITICAL role in funding our home building and home repair programs.
We would love to post more photos of items available in the ReStore, and of our happy customers. We would love volunteers coming in on different days and taking photos. You could pick the day and time - any day but Sunday is available. You need to commit to two hours for the day you choose. All you need is a camera OR a smart phone, a good eye, and a Drop Box or Google Drive to upload your photos to share with our social media manager.
How it works:
- You look through our Facebook account first to see which items we have already featured.
- You take photos of five to 10 items to feature on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
- You upload the photos so that the social media manager can access them and share them on Facebook and other social media accounts.
If you can take short videos with your phone, you can do that too - we'll splice them together for short clips for our social media channel. Lots of Habitat for Humanity chapters have volunteers doing some really creative things with short video clips (look around on Instagram, Tik Tok and or YouTube for more to see what we'd like to do too).
We would like someone to do this regularly: one day a week or one day every other week, or one day twice a month. We would like for the person to make a commitment to doing this for at least three months. And you can do it with a friend - it's always nice to have someone help to arrange items, hold them to provide scale, etc.
We are happy to sign off on any paperwork if you undertake this role for a class or if you want to do this for assigned community service.
We are right on TriMet Line 57!
We already involve volunteers in most aspects of our house-building and home repairs (and you are welcomed to do that too!) - but we want the community involved and invested even more in what we do, and a way to do that is involving more volunteers. In addition, we want to keep as much of our finances as possible into those home-building and home repair activities, to support vulnerable families in Western Washington County, Oregon. We have even more volunteering opportunities listed on our web site at www.westualityhabitat.org
During service, volunteers are representatives of Habitat for Humanity and our mission. In addition to complying with all laws, regulations and Habitat for Humanity policies, all volunteers are expected to follow Habitat’s Code of Conduct.
