Join us for our Wednesday night After School Program (ASP)! Our primary focus is to help students with their reading abilities and academics following the COVID-19 hit to academics, and serve to do this in a fun way! Outside of just reading together, we also make sure that students get to exercise other skills through arts & crafts, team building activities and games, creative arts time, and physical/outdoor games.
There are many ways you can support or volunteer with us! Whether you want to lead specific games or activities, want to be a helper, a reading tutor, help with set up or clean up, and so much more. Our goal is to serve 15-30 students on a given Wednesday afternoon, and grow those numbers as our volunteer base grows.
Volunteers should enjoy working with kids (aged Kindergarten to 4th grade), be comfortable managing elementary age behaviors, be willing to learn and participate as much as the students do, be a team player with other volunteers, and available at least 1 Wednesday a month (greater availability/commitment means deeper relationships with students!). Please note that we are flexible with your abilities & skills, so long as you bring a willing to learn and grow attitude.

Mission Statement
Family Values for Life works with families to help them chart a path out of crisis through spiritual empowerment, mental alertness, physical fitness, and financial stability. Together we build capacities for families to network and leverage resources within their community. Strong healthy families cultivate secure communities.
Description
Driven by our mission, Family Values for Life provides programs and services to build holistic family stability for the BIPOC families we serve.
Our target population is low-income single-parent families living in East Side neighborhoods of Saint Paul. 70-80% of the families we serve are low-income. 90% of Family Values for Life program participants are people of color and 80% of regular participants are African American. 70% of our families are headed by single moms.
Family Values for Life is a multi-program human service agency helping families move from crisis to stability by addressing four "pillars" of wellbeing: spiritual, mental, physical, and financial.
Integrated programs reach more than 5,000 people per year and include crisis financial assistance, food shelf and basic needs support, skill-building workshops for single parents, grief and trauma support, family coaching and case management, community referrals, after-school family meals and homework help, targeted reading support for elementary students, mentoring, and summer camps.
