The Eastern Connecticut Center for History, Art, and Performance (EC-CHAP) nonprofit cultural organization is looking for helpful individuals that would like to assist at The Packing House acoustic venue, the Dye & Bleach House Community Gallery, and the Gardiner Hall Jr. History Museum. All located at 156 River Road in Willington CT.
Programming hosted by EC-CHAP is entirely run by volunteers. The Packing House venue generally hosts acoustic music in an intimate, historic, "BYOB&F" venue. Acts can include poetry readings, local talent showcases, jazz concerts, acoustic acts or acapella, and a variety of other music and events from regional performers to internationally touring musicians. Events are usually 7:30pm-10:00pm, with volunteers arriving a bit earlier for preparation. More information here: https://thepackinghouse.us/upcoming
At The Packing house venue, assistance is needed with light duties such as checking advance tickets or conducting transactions for tickets purchased at the door, assisting with helping people park or cross the road if handicap assistance is needed, and handling the concession stand for food and beverages purchased at the event. The performance season spans from September-May.
Volunteer activities at the Dye & Bleach House Community Gallery and at the Gardiner Hall Jr. History Museum generally involve serving as a docent for a showing or exhibition but can also include research or other various tasks around the mill building that EC-CHAP is located in.
