About Nevada Free Taxes Coalition
Location:

Mission Statement
Our mission at NFTC is to aid low to moderate income (LMI) households, ensuring that they receive all tax credits they’re entitled to. The Coalition’s efforts support the Volunteer Income Tax (VITA) Program to provide free income tax preparation services to LMI taxpayers.
Description
Our team of IRS certified VITA volunteers who prepare returns must take and pass IRS tax law training and IRS requires a quality review check for every tax return prepared at a VITA site BEFORE the tax return is filed. We help single filers, students, seniors, limited English speaking, persons with disabilities, and veterans. VITA sites are so important because one in five people don’t take advantage of available tax credits and this means these people are leaving, money on the table. Our VITA volunteers can help these folks claim tax credits that can put money in their pockets. 2021 tax returns processed in Nevada last year with Earned Income Tax Credits claims totaled around $327K and the average EITC amount received per household was $1,978.00.
