The Golden Years Program at TrueCare is a social support group for for Hispanic adults who are depressed or have symptoms of depression. The group provides a chance to socialize, share life experiences, learn skills to cope with stress, and learn how to be self-sufficient.

The Golden Years Intern will assist with preparing and implementing psycho-education related classes for the participants of the Golden Years Program. He/ she will assimilate program information, help organize 1-2 major events and feel comfortable leading a class of 8-16 Hispanic Adults. The intern will directly contribute to increase community knowledge on mental health and wellness and be able to handle any mental health discussions.

Description of the tasks to be performed:

• Assist with planning events and activities for our senior group.
• Collaborate with the Community Engagement Specialist to implement psycho education classes.
• Engage with senior community to increase healthy behavior.
• Attend Golden Year meetings every Tuesday.
• Support Community Engagement events or activities as needed.

Qualifications and Skills: Must currently be an undergraduate student. Organization skills, people skills, reliable transportation, must be emotionally stable to handle sensitive situation/encounters with the participants of the group. Looking for independent, self-sufficient person, who can take initiative on certain tasks related to the group.
