Are you an animal lover and what to help people as well? We have a special volunteer opportunity for you with our Pet Peace of Mind program. PPOM is a program that helps our hospice patients care for their pets when caring for them becomes difficult for them. We need volunteers to help walk, feed, or transport pets to vet or grooming appointments. We also aid in the adoption of animals before and after the death of our patients. So our patients can have peace of mind that their furry family member is or will be placed in a loving home.
In order to volunteer, you will need to contact Heather Shirey at heather.shirey@lhcgroup.com or 865-544-6222. You will go through an orientation, submit to a background check and drug screen at no cost to you. You will complete our regular training on the computer of about 12 hours, plus some extra training specifically for Pet Peace of Mind.
We hope that you will consider making a difference in your community by helping UT Hospice care for the furry family of our patients.
