ORGANIZATION: VNS Health - Hospice Care (formerly Visiting Nurse Service of New York)

The role of the VNS Health Hospice Care Volunteer is that of a professional friendly visitor, providing a supportive, caring presence for patients, caregivers & families. Our goal is to provide comfort, care and compassion to our patients & families during what is often a difficult time.

Some of the ways that volunteers help, include: visiting to ease social isolation, providing companionship & socialization, being an active listener, reading aloud, listening to music, playing games, providing a quiet presence, helping with organizational projects and more.

Volunteers with special skills, such as singing, playing musical instruments, hairstyling, cosmetology, pet therapy, etc. are also needed. We are also seeking multilingual volunteers in all boroughs.
