Mission Statement

We are a nonprofit organization committed to improving the overall quality of care for all orphans. Providing children in foster care and group homes, care packages including toiletries, toys, books, school supplies, bedding, and more. The Transition Project is working to combat child illiteracy, promote volunteerism, and build confident readers. Creating a safe space for young readers and positive role models along with community resources. Covering all 100 counties of North Carolina.

Description

Founder Venus Smitherman has an AA in Human Service technology, former foster child, and volunteer coordinator.
Volunteers mentor and read to school aged children. Also assist with college applications, job references and outreach projects to uplift the community. The Transition Project sorts, packs and delivers care packages to orphans in NC.
