Golf Tournament Committee Member

Objective:
Reach for Resources is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower people to reach their full potential. We do this by providing individualized services that maximize independence, boosts community involvement, and improve physical and emotional well-being. By sharing your talents our organization, you receive a chance to give back to your community and gain great experience.

Responsibilities/Duties:
Each member of the Golf Tournament Committee is asked to contribute their skills to assist with Reach’s annual golf tournament strategy, recruiting and execution on the day of the tournament.

  • Sub-committees: each member will be part of the overall golf tournament committee but then focus their main duties on one of three sub-committees. These committees are: Sponsorships; In-Kind Donations & Golfer Recruitment. One committee member will be chosen as "team lead" to help coordinate the tasks of the committee.

  • Sponsorships: develop and execute plan to find sponsorships for the golf tournament. Committee members will be tasked with developing sponsorship levels (tweaking existing levels if need be); identifying past and potential new sponsors; soliciting sponsors that are not a part of Reach’s other fundraising events.

  • In-Kind Donations: develop and execute plan to find in-kind donations for the golf tournament. Committee members will be tasked with finding in-kind donations for the raffle, silent auction, on course games and swag bags; identifying past and potential new donors; soliciting donors that are not a part of Reach’s other fundraising events.

  • Golfer Recruitment: develop and execute plan to retain and find golfers for the golf tournament. Committee members will be tasked with retaining golfers from past tournaments and find new golfers to create a full field of 144 golfers. Ideal targeted golfer will have a healthy level of disposable income and prior history of generosity.
  • On Course Games: all committee members will have input and ideas for on course games. Some games will be designed to be revenue generating and some games will be designed to be free but informative/demonstrative of the supports Reach provides.

  • Agenda: all committee members will have input on the days agenda. This includes the not only the agenda for the golfers and sponsors but for the volunteers themselves on the day of the tournament. One Committee Member will be assigned the task to keep other team members on time during the day of the tournament. This task should not be assigned to the Development Officer for Reach.

Meetings:
Meetings can be conducted in person or via teleconference and occur once every 2 months starting in August of each year. Meetings will be conducted once per month starting in January of each year to ensure committee is on task for reaching our goals. Email will be used in between meetings to monitor any ongoing projects.

Qualifications:
To volunteer at Reach, volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and be screened through an interview process by our Volunteer Manager. Ideally, a golf tournament committee member will have prior golf tournament experience.

Training and Preparation of the Job:
All volunteers must complete an orientation training session.

Commitment:

Volunteer should plan to give at least a one-year commitment for the Golf Tournament Committee position.

Evaluation:
At the end of volunteer commitment, the volunteer will have a chance to evaluate his/her position. At this time, the volunteer will have a chance to decide whether to continue with current relationship, try a new volunteer experience, or terminate their involvement with Reach for Resources Inc.
