Through Animal Humane Society's foster program, thousands of animals have received special care before finding their new homes. More than 2,000 animals who come to AHS each year need foster care before they are ready for adoption.
We are currently seeking foster support for large dogs (50 pounds and up) who have behavioral and medical issues. We are also looking for cat and rabbit foster volunteers!
The food, medication, kennels, toys, and other basic supplies you will need are provided, along with training and care instructions. Vet techs and behaviorists can also offer their help if needed.
Fostering is an immensely rewarding experience, and it changes animals’ lives in a very direct way. Your act of kindness will be repaid in rewards that are beyond words.
AHS shelters are located Minnesota. Applicants must live within 60 miles of Golden Valley, Coon Rapids, or Woodbury to be considered for this volunteer role.

Description
The Animal Humane Society is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to the welfare of all animals. The Society seeks to maintain and develop programs and facilities which promote and expand the human/animal bond. Incorporated in 1891 as the Minneapolis Humane Society, the organization was known as the Animal Rescue League for many years. In 1965 the name was changed to the Animal Humane Society of Hennepin County. In 1999, the name was officially changed to Animal Humane Society, in part to clarify the fact that the organization is not part of the county government and is not supported by tax dollars.
