A Free Bird is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization based in New York City. Our organization allows children diagnosed with cancer to explore their artistic passions. Artistic expression has been proven to play an instrumental role in the healing process. We support children affected by cancer in exploring a range of self-expression, such as art, music, acting, poetry, writing, singing, and other creative mediums. Application Link: https://forms.gle/5VQYcFPXHNd4zp9L9 As a Video Colorist, your role is crucial in the post-production process of filmmaking, television production, and other video projects. Your primary responsibility is to enhance the visual quality and storytelling impact of video content by adjusting and manipulating colors, tones, and overall visual aesthetics. You work closely with directors, cinematographers, and other post-production professionals to achieve the desired look and feel of the final product. Responsibilities:
- Color Correction: Use specialized software (e.g., DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) to correct and balance color issues in raw footage, ensuring consistency and accuracy in skin tones, lighting, and overall color palette.
- Color Grading: Apply creative color grading techniques to establish the video's mood, atmosphere, and tone. This involves using color theory and aesthetics to enhance storytelling and evoke emotions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with directors, cinematographers, and editors to understand the creative vision and goals of the project. Collaborate effectively to achieve the desired visual style and communicate feedback.
- Visual Consistency: Ensure that the color and visual style remains consistent throughout the video, maintaining continuity between scenes and shots.
- Problem-Solving: Address color-related challenges and issues, such as lighting inconsistencies, mismatched shots, and color artifacts, using your expertise to find solutions.
- Client Interaction: Discuss and present color grading options to clients and stakeholders, incorporating their feedback to achieve the desired outcome while balancing creative integrity.
- Quality Control: Review final video projects to ensure color accuracy and visual consistency before the content is delivered or published.
- Efficiency: Manage workload effectively, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously, optimizing your workflow to maintain a high level of productivity.
- Proficiency in color correction and color grading software (e.g., DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
- Strong understanding of color theory, lighting, and visual aesthetics.
- Knowledge of video codecs, color spaces, and file formats.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take direction effectively.
- Strong communication skills to understand and convey creative vision and feedback.
- Attention to detail and a critical eye for visual inconsistencies.
- Creativity and a keen sense of storytelling through color.
- Prior experience in video post-production or a related field is highly preferred.
- A portfolio or demo reel showcasing previous color grading work is beneficial
- This position requires a three-month commitment and at least 5-10 hours per week.*
- *Mandatory commitment is based on position level.
- Proper at-home working capabilities include a laptop, phone, and connection to reliable internet connectivity. You must be available for phone or video conversation at least twice weekly.
