Stark County Campus Food Pantry Volunteer Description

Pantry volunteers assist guests/neighbors with selecting items and bagging/boxing items. Pantry volunteers also assist with stocking shelves, coolers and freezers. Items include shelf stable, produce, bakery/pastry and frozen.

We have the following direct service volunteer opportunities in the Pantry:

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays - 8:30am to 11am and 10:45am to 1:15pm

We have restock volunteer opportunities in the Pantry on the following days and times:

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays - 2pm to 4pm

  • 08:30 AM to 11:00 AM EST - Spots available: 10+
    Direct service pantry volunteer.
  • 08:30 AM to 04:00 PM EST - Spots available: 4
    Shifts are morning and afternoon. Volunteers can select a shift that matches their availability.
  • 10:45 AM to 01:15 PM EST - Spots available: 9
    Direct service pantry volunteer.
  • 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM EST - Spots available: 4
    Pantry restock.

The mission of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is to lead a collaborative network that empowers people to experience healthy and hunger-free lives. We distribute food to feed people and we advocate, engage and convene our community in the fight to end hunger.

Description

The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is a nonprofit organization with a vision of a thriving community free of hunger. This year, 1 in 8 people in Northeast Ohio will face hunger, and the Foodbank will be there to help. The Foodbank is the souce of emergency food for nearly 500 food pantries, hot meal sites, shelters and other hunger-relief programs that directly serve individuals and families in Carroll, Holmes, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, Tuscarawas and Wayne Counties.

The Foodbank, with its supporters and partners are leading the fight to end hunger in the communities they serve. In 2018, it helped provide access to food for 24.5 million meals to its network of hunger-relief partners. REQUIREMENTS

  • This is a Done in a Day opportunity and there is no prior training or ongoing commitment needed.
  • Must be at least 16
  • The pantry is open on Tuesdays 9am to 1pm and Wednesdays 9am to 3pm. Volunteers will have the option to serve during the listed shift times: Tuesdays 8:30am-11:00am or 11:00am-1:30pm, Wednesdays 8:30am-12pm or 12pm-3:30pm. 
  • Additional pantry opportunities: Mondays 9am to 11:15am or 12:30pm-3:30pm. Pantry restock opportunities are Tuesdays 1:30pm to 4pm and Fridays 9am to 12pm.
