York County Reads seeks volunteers who are willing to attend a training class over 4 days and be paired with a student for at least one school semester. Volunteers meet with their student at least 2 times per week after school for 45-60 minutes. It is the most rewarding thing you can do to empower a child to be able to read!

Mission Statement
York County Reads provides no- to low-cost literacy instruction to underserved struggling students to enable them to become successful readers.
Description
Teaching struggling students to read is a superpower! York County Reads seeks to train long-term, volunteer tutors to provide literacy instruction to lower income, struggling readers using a multisensory, structured, sequential, evidence-based approach. This approach is great for any struggling reader, not just the dyslexic. York County Reads hopes to change the outlook of many residents of York County in the coming months and years. We believe that, not only the child will be blessed through this program, but the tutors as well.
