Seattle Parks and Recreation Environmental Engagement Unit is offering free volunteer guide training. Inspire change through education, enrich the experience of park visitors, teach families and school students in nature, and share with your community.
Applications are due August 23rd; training begins September 9th.

Mission Statement

Seattle Parks and Recreation provides welcoming and safe opportunities to play, learn, contemplate and build community, and promotes responsible stewardship of the land. We promote healthy people, a healthy environment, and strong communities. Seattle Parks and Recreation manages a 6,200-acre park system of 400+ parks and extensive natural areas. Parks provides athletic fields, tennis courts, play areas, specialty gardens, and more than 25 miles of boulevards and more than 120 miles of trails. The system comprises about 11% of the City's land area. Parks also manages many facilities, including 26 community centers, ten swimming pools (two outdoor and eight indoor), four environmental learning centers, two small craft centers, four golf courses, an outdoor stadium, and much more.

Description

Seattle Parks and Recreation's Environmental Education and Outdoor Learning Unit provides outdoor recreation and education opportunities for all of Seattle's residents. We provide nature education to public and private school students, nature walks to the general public, and walks for our youngest environmental learners. We utilize city parks and our Environmental Learning Centers throughout the city,
