ORGANIZATION: Queens Community House

  • 8 people are interested

The Queens Center for Gay Seniors in Jackson Heights serves the LGBTQ+ community and their allies through meaningful programming, healthy meals and a space for companionship. We have four virtual reality headsets with which participants can explore the VR world. The right volunteer will be available Tuesdays during the rest of the summer. We would like you to be able to jump into the office for a VR training sometime before the first scheduled date on the calendar, Tuesday August 15th.

If you already have experience with VR and are excited about its application, you'll really be able to spread the wonder of this technology. The guide (you) will interface using an iPad. Tech savviness would be helpful.

1 Shift

  • 10:45 AM to 01:15 AM EST
Recurring on Tuesdays if the participants enjoy it.

Mission Statement

Queens Community House provides individuals and families with the tools to enrich their lives and build healthy, inclusive communities.

Description

Queens Community House (QCH) is a multi-site, multi-service settlement house that serves the diverse neighborhoods of Queens. We serve residents of all ages, races, faiths, and ethnicities while supporting the viability of the borough as a whole.

QCH was formed in 1975 (as Forest Hills Community House) to help heal the wounds of a neighborhood conflict. Over four decades, our reach and breadth have grown; today we offer a broad network of comprehensive services at 25 program sites in 11 different neighborhoods in Queens, allowing us to impact individuals, families, and entire communities.
