At IRC our goal is to unite people and nature in order to restore our world. Our Restoring the Gold Coast Initiative seeks to restore the incredible beauty and diversity of plants and animals to the coastal ecosystems of South Florida.

Join the Institute for Regional Conservation in this exciting project with the City of Boca Raton! On Saturday August 19th from 9 am to 11 am IRC and our volunteers will be working together to plant a variety of native plants to the beach dune of Red Reef Park. Groups of volunteers will be instructed how to install our plants into the ground, learn about coastal ecosystems, and have the opportunity to participate in a litter pick-up!

There is no experience required! So grab a friend and come out to help us plant a diverse array of native species so we can repair the essential biodiversity of Red Reef Park's beach dune ecosystem. We will provide further instructions on attire, water, and parking before the event, after you sign-up. Whether this is your first volunteer event with us or you're a repeat volunteer, we are so excited to have you join the IRC family and see how much fun habitat restoration can be!

Please be sure to RSVP if you want to sign up to participate in this event.

Mission Statement

A private non-profit organization, The Institute for Regional Conservation (IRC) is dedicated to the protection, restoration, and long-term management of biodiversity on a regional basis, and to the prevention of regional extinctions of rare plants, animals and ecosystems.

Description

Based in Florida, USA, IRC works on conservation research and action throughout South Florida, the Caribbean and beyond. Our work is premised on an innovative idea of conservation that seeks to protect and restore viable populations of all plant and animal species within a region, rather than simply focusing on charismatic animals or plants with narrow global ranges.
