Kyte Monroe has a bioswale which is a professionally engineered large rain garden. The purpose is to capture large amounts of rain water in heavy rain events to help reduce the chances a combined sewage overflow event into Lake St. Clair. Our workday is a great opportunity for anyone interested in protecting our lake, native plants, pollinator gardening, or environmental issues in general. We will be cleaning up the bioswale, looking for any invasive plants. With any luck we can also take in viewing of the pollinators at work. We currently need to finish removal of dead stalks, bindweed removal and digging up and removing mulberry. We also always try to remove any trash that we find in the bioswale. The bioswale is full functioning but there is plenty to do to keep it up.

All of our volunteer opportunities count for community service hours. We welcome green team members. All are welcome. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
