As a Food Pantry Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in supporting our non-profit organization's mission to alleviate hunger and food insecurity in the community. You will assist with various tasks related to the efficient operation of the food pantry, ensuring that individuals and families in need have access to nutritious food.


Assist with Food Procurement:
Go to our local food bank on our behalf, on designated pick-up days to get food and pantry items for the food pantry.

Unload and sort food donations, ensuring items are properly labeled and stored.

Stock and Inventory Management:

Conduct regular inventory checks to maintain accurate stock records.

Organize and rotate food items to maintain freshness and minimize waste.

Notify the Food Pantry Manager of any shortages or issues with inventory.


Maintain Cleanliness and Orderliness:

Keep the food pantry area clean, neat, and well-organized.

Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe environment for volunteers and clients.

Assist with general cleaning and maintenance tasks as needed.

Volunteer Coordination and Support:

Collaborate with other volunteers and staff members to ensure smooth operations and effective teamwork.

Assist in training and orienting new volunteers, providing guidance as needed.

Foster a positive and inclusive volunteer experience, promoting a welcoming and supportive environment.

The mission of The Urban Health Collaborative (TUHC) is to shift mindsets and help the world believe it can be a better place. We collaboratively work with local, state, and national partners to bridge the gap between healthcare and education, to lessen the burden of health disparities in Urban communities. The Urban Health Collaborative strives to improve the overall health and well-being of all youth and their families living in Urban communities in Central and Northern New Jersey. We help communities learn new skills and teach them how to use them in their daily lives, to better preserve their mental and physical health, to prevent mental illness, chronic disease, comorbidities, and to learn how to better empathize with people in their everyday lives regardless of race, gender, and identity.
