Up to 24% of all Veterans experience food insecurity at some point in their lives. These Veterans have higher levels of chronic disease and higher probability of mental health challenges. The Minneapolis VA Food Pantry is meant to be a stop gap so the Veteran can access food and get connected to resources. Volunteers in this role would assist in the day to day running of the pantry so that all Veterans have a pleasant experience.
Potential Volunteers with have a desire to end hunger within the Veteran population, be customer service oriented and have good organization skills.
Volunteers in this role will stock and organize pantry shelves, check expiration dates and rotate items, ensure cleanliness of pantry area, maintain proper temperature and health standards, assist Veterans through the pantry with a shopping like experience, effectively address customer requests and problem solve as needed, assist with bagging and in getting items to vehicles.
We are currently looking to fill several shifts Monday through Friday during daytime business hours.
A resume is not required but can be submitted before or during the initial new volunteer appointment with CDCE.
