The Friends of the El Cajon Library Book Shoppe is operated solely by the Friends of the El Cajon Library. All proceeds from book sales help the library purchase materials and sponsor library program activities. We are looking for Book Shoppe volunteers to help expand our hours and have a consistent presence in the library.
Key Responsibilities:
Sign up for at least one 2-hour shift per week.
Handle cash appropriately.
Tag all incoming books.
Restock and organize shelves.
Communicate closely with Book Shoppe Manager.
Call a volunteer substitute, if you cannot attend your shift.
When not relieved by a volunteer, secure & lock the Book Store.
Qualifications:
Basic math skills.
Capable of organizing items in alphabetical order in appropriate areas.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
Attention to detail.
Background check required.
At least 18 years of age.
Training and Support Provided.
Time Commitment: Minimum of 2 hours per week.

The Friends of the El Cajon Library is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing financial, volunteer, advocacy and enrichment support to the library community. The Friends support sponsor library program activites for children, teens, adults and seniors, as well as technology, cultural and community events.
The Friends of the El Cajon Library is a nonprofit volunteer organization that supports and raises money for the El Cajon Library's programs and services. The Friends accomplish this by selling books, dvds, cds, magazines and puzzles in the Bookstore and online through Amazon. The Friends also holds a monthly Bag of Books sale to help raise money, as well as fundraising events to build membership and raise donations to support sponsor library program activities.
