Experience fundraisers needed for project in Africa to help mothers who are sex workers and their children with maternal health care, education, mental health, and alternative sources of income.
We have a very unique mission: to assist poor, vulnerable mothers who support their children though sex work and their children.
One of the leading causes of death among female sex workers [FSW] is complicatons during pregnancy and childbirth because they cannot afford prenatal care or to give birth in a hospital. So, we have started a program to fund maternal health care for these moms. We need help to raise funds to provide these services.
After giving birth, many moms need mental health support. We need to raise funding to support mental health services for these moms. One specific program is based in Mombasa, Kenya.
In addition, many daughters of sex workers are sexual exploited. To protect them we need to raise fund so the daughters can attend boarding schools where they will be safe and also receive an education so they have more economic opportunities.
Finally, the vast majority of moms in sex work want alternative sources of income. We are working with our partner in Uganda to help moms who have successfully completed a tailoring class to get a sewing machine and other needed supplies so they can start their own business to support themselves and their children. We plan to expand programs for alternative sources of income to other countries.
We are looking for experience fundraisers especially to help us increase individual donations.
