Keeping Help and Hope in Mind

ADRC provides regularly scheduled programs for people living with dementia, along with their care partner. These programs include weekly art and music; monthly museum visits and equine wellness and Memory Cafes. We are looking for volunteers who enjoy working with people, hands-on, to provide some of the
following:

Reminder phone calls
Assist with checking- in our participants
Setting up program (ie moving chairs, setting out materials)
Circulating among participants to help create friendly environment
Assisting participants, as needed, providing water or other refreshments to participants, helping with clean up.

Mission Statement

The mission of ADRC is to provide care, support and educational programs for families in need, and to be advocates for local families who are coping with Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias.

Description

Alzheimer's Disease Resource Center provides free care consultations, information & referrals, education, support groups and therapeutic programs for caregivers and their loved ones. We offer educational training to professional healthcare workers, graduate students, and other organizations throughout Long Island. All services are free of charge to Long Island families. Professional trainings in dementia care are fee based, but we also offer many workshops, CEU courses, and other programs that are free to professionals. We also offer outreach and educational presentations for community groups at no charge, providing information about services and programs and the disease itself.

  • There is flexibility with this position. We offer programs most days a week and if you can only help on Monday's with Art that is fine. If you have a car and want to help with off-site programs that is great too.
