Old Colony Y Mentoring matches adult volunteers, ages 21+, with young people ages 9-17 for one year in our 1:1 mentoring program or for 4 months in our Group Mentoring program. Through our mentoring programs, mentoring relationships are established to help youth develop tools to cope with issues such as low self-esteem, family and peer conflicts, problems at school, and to improve their decision-making skills these skills can be worked on through conversation and dialogue with their mentor while participating in numerous activities.

We ask that for 1:1 Mentoring you have the ability to consistently spend 1-3 hours each week with a child for one year (exact scheduled to be determined by mentor and child’s family), access to a vehicle to transport the child, and participate in a screening process, (orientation, background check, references).

This 1:1 Mentoring opportunity is available in most towns across southeastern Massachusetts, including Stoughton, Avon, Easton, Norton, Rehoboth, Dighton, Taunton, Berkley, Brockton, West Bridgewater, Raynham, Bridgewater, Lakeville, Middleboro, East Bridgewater, Whitman, Abington, Rockland, Hanover, Hanson, Halifax, Plympton, Carver, Marshfield, Duxbury, Pembroke, Kingston, and Plymouth!

We ask that for Group Mentoring you have the ability to consistently spend 2 hours each week with a child for 4 months (exact scheduled to be determined by Sr. Case Manager of Group Mentoring, Mentor, and youth), access to a source of reliable transportation (car, bike, walking Uber, Lyft, Bus, Etc.), and participate in a screening process, (orientation, background check, references).
