Biscayne National Park WEEKDAY Beach Cleanups (Dec-April 2024)
ORGANIZATION: National Park Service
Please visit the new page to apply.
- A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
Join us weekdays, starting in December 2023 and running through April 2024, at Biscayne National Park to protect and preserve one of the largest marine parks in the National Park Service. With a preservation area of 95% water, Biscayne recognizes that ocean pollution is a serious issue, not just for our marine life, but for our community of South Florida. Accumulating debris on our beaches can hinder successful nesting by threatened and endangered sea turtles and cause entanglement hazards to many other animals. We need YOU to help us protect and conserve our local environment. Last year, volunteers removed approximately 50,000 pounds of marine debris from park beaches. When you realize that a majority of this debris is actually plastic, the volume of trash removed is staggering.
