Animal Caregiver Volunteer Position
ORGANIZATION: SOWA GOAT SANCTUARY
Please visit the new page to apply.
Sowa Goat Sanctuary is looking for kind, calm, dedicated, detail-oriented volunteers who live within an hour drive from Harvard, MA, love animals, and want to help care for our 50+ rescued goats, sheep, pigs, chickens and turkeys. Volunteer responsibilities include feeding and watering, mucking out stalls, sweeping, maintaining the pastures, and spending time with the animals. We believe that giving our animals love and affection every day is an important part of sanctuary and we rely on our volunteers to help us shower the animals with love every day.
We are looking for volunteers who can make a regular ongoing weekly commitment on the following days: Monday afternoons from 3:00-5:00 PM, Tuesday afternoons from 3:00-5:00 PM, Thursday afternoons from 3:00-5:00 PM, and Friday mornings from 9:00- 11:00 AM, Saturday mornings from 9:00- 11:00 AM, and Sunday mornings from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM. We invest a huge amount of time and energy training our volunteers so we do not take on sporadic, short-term, one-time volunteers or people living outside the US looking for a visa/live-work opportunity.
If you are interested in becoming a regular weekly and live within a reasonable driving distance from the sanctuary, please fill out our volunteer application here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe0kh2fVsmJ3dKKXX2LkdMc7KxPsNL5C6JFL0Mrjn_OpO4mHA/viewform?usp=sf_link

Description
Sowa Goat Sanctuary sits on 10 acres in Harvard, MA and is home to over 50 rescued goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, and turkeys. Sowa is a Tibetan word that means "to heal, mend and nourish," and that is exactly what we provide for our rescued animals. In addition to utilizing traditional veterinary medicine we embrace holistic practices including herbalism, acupuncture, physical therapy, massage, reiki, sound healing, and flower essences. We have an amazing team of dedicated volunteers who help us care for our residents and create a healing, loving environment where our animals can progress their trauma and thrive.
