ORGANIZATION: Teachers' Treasures

  • 9 people are interested

Teachers' Treasures, a free store for Teachers in Marion County, is looking for hands-on, handyman(or woman!) help on a weekly basis in our warehouse and store front. Since 2000, we've distributed over $100 million dollars worth of product and we need your help to give out even more!

This is a great opportunity for anyone retired from the logistics or warehouse/retail industry who wants to give back or anyone looking to gain experience in logistics, warehouse, and retail work.

Volunteers will:

  • Help stock the store on a weekly basis and help guide other volunteer groups in stocking. (Don't worry we'll train you!).
  • Help manage pallets and large materials being donated--we'll show you how to use warehouse machinery if you're comfortable with it!
  • Participate in large-scale volunteer projects as a team lead.
  • Prepare product for our Mobile Outreach Program (where we head into schools!)--and join us for the Mobile Outreach Programs!
  • Hang out with our warehouse and logistics team and help lighten the load of serving over 8,000 teachers.

This volunteer position schedule is flexible. It is physical but we are more than willing to work with your capabilities!

About Teachers' Treasures

Location:

1800 E. 10th St., Indianapolis, IN 46201, US

Mission Statement

Teachers’ Treasures works to ensure teachers, educators, and students have access to free, vital resources for classroom success.

Description

Every day at public, charter, private, and parochial schools located throughout Marion County, children of all ages attend class without the most basic supplies they need to get a good education. Dedicated teachers are often willing to pay for these much needed supplies out of their own pockets to make sure the kids in their classrooms have the necessary tools to learn.

Teachers' Treasures, in partnership with local businesses, charitable foundations, neighborhood organizations and individual contributors, helps fill this need by operating a volunteer based "Free Store for Teachers." Donated educational supplies and other materials are distributed via this unique conduit to teachers for the benefit of their students.

Teachers' Treasures offers a variety of individual or group volunteer activities that can be tailored to your group or organization. Please contact Sarah Gregory at sgregory@teacherstreasures.org or call 317-264-1758 for more information.

Teachers who volunteer 2 or more hours can earn extra shopping passes. Teachers who are normally ineligible to shop can also volunteer to earn opportunities to shop.
