VITAS Healthcare is currently looking for Bereavement Caller Volunteers. If you enjoy talking on the phone and have time to make a few calls, you may be a perfect Bereavement Telephone Assurance Volunteer. VITAS Bereavement Volunteers make phone calls to bereaved family members after a hospice patient’s death. These short phone calls go a long way in making a difference in the lives of those coping with grief. This volunteer opportunity allows making calls from your own home. All that is needed is your own phone, computer and internet access. The hours are flexible and we appreciate any time you are able to contribute.
VITAS staff provide training and ongoing supervision for Bereavement Caller Volunteers. In addition, VITAS provides Zoom trainings that give detailed instructions and guidance for the Bereavement Caller program. If you would prefer to make calls directly from our office instead of at home, this is also an option.
As a Bereavement Caller Volunteer, you are able to use your compassion and listening skills to give back to hospice families in the community. For more information, please contact Emily Jokerst at (314)682-3434, Emily.Jokerst@vitas.com or at www.vitas.com/volunteer.
