GED Math Tutor
ORGANIZATION: PAX LEARNING CENTER
Please visit the new page to apply.
Hello!
PAX Learning Center is seeking math tutors to help students complete their math GED test. Math is the most common subject our students struggle with and having more one-on-one support will help them reach their goals a lot faster. Our program serves students ages 16+ who have not completed high school. With many of our students anxious about getting their GED, we require passionate and caring individuals that can help these students believe in themselves and feel like they are worth something in this world.
Math concepts cover beginning level math (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing) to Algebra 2 (Quadratic Formula, y=mx+b, and Polynomials).
Prior content knowledge is preferred and virtual options are available!
Not sure you can tutor? No problem! We will work with you to hone your tutoring skills and help you feel more confident in teaching our students. This is a community learning environment for both our students and tutors, with many of our volunteer tutors having never tutored before. This opportunity is more than just tutoring, you are truly making a difference in someone's life. Watching them blossom before your eyes is a very fulfilling experience and something we want all members of our community to experience for themselves.
We would love to have you on our team of dedicated volunteers and help these students achieve their goals and fulfill their dreams. When these people meet someone that believes in them, their whole world view changes. Help add to our growing success stories!

Mission Statement
PAX Learning Center was created by a group of dedicated educators and community members who see an increasing need to help those who dropped out of high school and are struggling day to day to survive. We at PAX are dedicated to assisting individuals who have not completed their requirements to attain a high school diploma in the Vancouver Metro area. We seek to provide academic and job skills training to these individuals in order for them to have the opportunity to walk their preferred path, whether it be higher education or a career.
Description
PAX Learning Center is a 501 c(3) nonprofit organization that aims to assist individuals who are in the lower socioeconomic tier and help them get onto their preferred path, whether that be higher education or a career. PAX is a newly established organization and is looking to grow within the Vancouver community. Currently, PAX offers tutoring services to a number of partnerships within the community to help people attain their GED. As we continue to grow, we look to host a number of programs which will include classes for GED preparation as well as career building and internship programs. In tandem with tutoring, we are also looking for volunteers who would be interested in helping the PAX Development team with different projects such as fundraising events, grant writing, marketing, and more. If you are a student looking for an opportunity to hone your craft or have a co-op requirement for a class in either of these categories, please reach out to us! We are happy to have anybody on our team who seeks to help this population, they really need our help.
