Bristol Hospice is seeking Volunteers in the Wareham, Marion, Fairhaven and New Bedford area to provide supportive companionship visits to our patients in your community. We are growing quickly and we now have patients in your neighborhood.
Bristol Hospice relies on volunteers to provide an array of support services to our patients and their families. Hospice Volunteers gain great personal satisfaction in knowing they made an impact in someone's life. Hospice volunteers enhance the daily lives of our patients in many ways. Some examples are providing companionship and a comforting and supportive presence during the final weeks, days and hours of life. Volunteers can provide respite time for caregivers. Sometimes just playing music, reading aloud, enjoying a sunny day or watching a movie can make an enormous difference in a patient's day. The volunteer gives patients a moment of normalcy in the midst of what otherwise be a stressful time.
At present our patients are located in their homes, Assisted Livings and Long Term Care facilities.
We also participate in the We Honor Vets program and would love to provide 1:1 veterans companionship
