Mission Statement
Alchemist Community Development Corporation (CDC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting communities to land, food and opportunity toward a vision in which all neighborhoods are vibrant, equitable, healthy, and diverse.
Description
As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, we rely on volunteers to help connect communities to land, food, and opportunity, working toward vibrant, equitable, healthy, and diverse neighborhoods. We offer volunteer opportunities across three programs: CalFresh at Farmers' Markets, Neighborhood Empowerment, and Community Food Connections.
CalFresh at Farmers' Markets: This program enables lower-income individuals to purchase fresh food through SNAP benefits at farmers' markets in Sacramento County. Volunteers assist with SNAP transactions, distribute EBT and Market Match vouchers, and help redeem vouchers from market vendors, making farmers' markets more accessible and equitable for all.
Neighborhood Empowerment: We work with communities to maximize the potential of existing community garden spaces to grow fresh food. These spaces provide vital resources for programs like Community Food Connections while fostering engagement, learning, and collaboration among neighbors.
Community Food Connections: This initiative delivers fresh produce and groceries directly to low-income families in South Sacramento who face barriers to traditional food distribution. We prioritize sourcing produce from local farmers and community gardens, providing nutritious food for families while supporting our regional economy.
Join us in creating meaningful connections and stronger communities!
