ORGANIZATION: URBAN MEET ORGANIZATION

Image_202305292001

Our organization is committed to improving the quality of life by providing Job Training and Employment
Preparedness, Housing Program, Disadvantage Youth Services and Community Building Development. Our
mission is to make sure well-being is at the forefront of improving living conditions, stabilizing and
strengthening low-income distressed communities.

The Urban Meet Organization strengthens the neighborhoods we serve. Our programs and activities are
designed to be a catalyst that helps communities reach their goals and fulfill their potential by changing
and shaping lives. Please see the programs below.

We are a nonprofit organization whose mission is aligned with the below priority areas:

Job Training & Employment Preparedness
We believe in improving work experience and providing information for other available training programs.
We help others utilize special training programs that can promote or complete qualifications for open or
current positions. With this initiative, our goal is to promote great opportunities for those in need. With
access to the right resources, people can become empowered by their own abilities and gain the
confidence to fulfill their potential.
We focus on job-related goals that ensure successful outcomes:
● Resume Writing
● Software Training
● Grooming
● Interview Preparedness

Housing Program
This program is our first outreach to target the homeless, low-income families and distress communities. We
are finding that homelessness is up by 16% since 2018, Los Angeles County has 59,000 Homeless with 75% of
this number (44,000 citizens) currently living outdoors. Low-income families in Los Angeles are 20% of the
population that live below the poverty line. This is higher than the national average of 13%. With our
organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to find new strategies for dealing with this challenge. The
Housing Program is something that we take very seriously, and our team is working each day to make a
positive impact.
We provide:
● Shelter
● Security Deposit Assistance
● Rental and Utility Assistance for those in need
● Providing upgrades and rehabilitation for those who need them in distress communities
We help families live in housing that is safe, supportive and affordable.

Youth Services Program
We believe that every student should have access to resources that prepare them to succeed in school
and life. We believe that investing in increasing test scores, classroom performance and/or attendance
creates a better future for all of us.
Our program encourages Youth’s success in a safe environment that fosters learning in all subjects,
including after-school activities as well as other interventions. We see every challenge as an opportunity,
and this initiative helps us ensure that our disadvantaged Youth are better prepared to manage any and
all situations they find themselves in. We are invested in an innovative approach that empowers our
Youth and delivers the support they need, when they need it.

Community Building Development Program
The Urban Meet Organization is dedicated to stepping up our efforts in addressing this issue. Community
Building Development is by no means an easy feat, but through dedication and community empowerment
we believe we can facilitate progress in this area. Community engagement is at the core of our strategy.
We invest heavily in supporting the development of distressed and at-risk communities, Building New
Affordable housing and Capital Improvements. We are always striving to make a difference. The Los
Angeles County population is expected to increase by 7% in the next two years, as it increases most of the
current population will be forced to live in substandard and overcrowded conditions in a desperate
attempt to avoid becoming homeless.

Volunteer Expectations:

  • Prioritizing relief initiatives: Our first priority will be to provide short-term relief to affected communities, such as providing basic necessities such as food, water, and shelter.

  • Supporting long-term rebuilding efforts: Once the immediate needs of affected communities have been taken care of, our focus will shift to long-term rebuilding efforts, such as repairing infrastructure and repairing current residences.

  • Establishing long-term relief programs: We plan to set up long-term relief programs, such as providing ongoing access to basic necessities and providing housing and employment support.

  • Funding youth services initiatives: We will a support sports, after-school programs and training initiatives.

These four initiatives will be our primary focus, and find grant funding to support these activities. We are confident that, funding, we can provide relief and support to those in disadvantage communities.
