KeelWorks needs serious UX researchers. If you are intersted in practicing your skills and learning from seasoned researchers, or if you are the seasoned one, sharing what you know with less seasoned ones, this is the place for you. There are several projects, the most important of which is a complex application for learning management as well as a learning team environment. You, of course, will be assigned to just one.
The KeelWorks Foundation gets people to work. We have three programs, one is for recent graduates needing experience to enhance their employability, another is for those transitioning to new careers or reaching for greater responsibility. The third program, in development, is for the most challenged unemployed, and this program will require considerable software and learning components.
We’re excited to find an experienced UX Researcher to join our team and help drive our mission of creating a thoughtful, research-informed design system that delivers meaningful, engaging experiences across every user interaction. This role is essential to shaping a design approach that builds a supportive community, equips users with vital skills, and provides access to employment resources. The ideal candidate brings experience in usability testing, desk research, and mixed-methods UX research, with a strong focus on crafting inclusive, impactful user experiences.
You will work under our UX Lead to deliver high quality, human-centered reseach. Responsibilities:
- Conduct usability testing to evaluate the accessibility, effectiveness, and inclusivity of our design system, ensuring it meets the needs of all users.
- Perform desk research to deeply understand user needs, motivations, and contexts, translating findings into actionable insights that guide design decisions.
- Design and execute research studies that support our mission to empower users, creating a supportive learning community through research-informed, human-centered design principles.
Those applying need the time to practice user research and documentation as well as team interaction. This person must be a strong collaborator and able to contribut at least five hours a week.

Description
KeelWorks is a 501c3 foundation. Since 2008 hundreds of graduate students and unemployed workers, reached gainful employment while helping KeelWorks build structure for change. We want to end poverty across the world, changing one life at a time. The KeelWings program for recent students and the KeelMate program for transitioning workers apply their learning while gaining experience supporting the KeelMaster program development. This experience reflected in a competent resume - with our guidance - qualifies them as a credible job applicant. The KeelMaster program is designed to support employment for the more challenged unemployed. This program begins with barrier identification and mitigation, assigns participants facilitated teams where they learn core competencies, ending with goal determination. They access training, and while doing so, join paid internships. Mutual support, core competencies, application, and clear and objective progress metrics support measured results. This structure for change will be replicated over and over across the globe. While other programs give the needy fish, we teach teach them to fish.
