Organization Overview:
IWRC is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering refugee women through educational programming. We believe in providing opportunities for these women to gain knowledge, skills, and confidence, enabling them to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to their communities. Our programs focus on language acquisition, vocational training, and personal development.
Volunteer Position: Development Committee Member
Position Description:
We are seeking passionate and dedicated volunteers to join our Development Committee. As a committee member, you will play a crucial role in helping us raise funds to support our educational programs for refugee women. This volunteer position requires a commitment to attending regular committee meetings, collaborating with other members, and actively participating in fundraising initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Attend monthly committee meetings to discuss and plan fundraising strategies.
- Brainstorm and develop creative fundraising ideas tailored to our organization's mission and target audience.
- Collaborate with other committee members to organize fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives.
- Utilize personal and professional networks to secure sponsorships, donations, and partnerships.
- Research and identify potential grant opportunities for our organization.
- Assist in writing grant proposals and applications.
- Support the development and execution of online fundraising campaigns and social media initiatives.
- Help maintain donor and sponsor relations by sending acknowledgments and updates.
- Participate in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of fundraising activities.
Requirements:
- Passion for the mission and vision of International Women's Resource Center.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of social media platforms.
- Experience in fundraising, event planning, or grant writing is a plus but not required.
- Flexibility and willingness to take on various tasks as needed.
- Respect for confidentiality when handling sensitive donor information.
Commitment:
- The volunteer position requires a commitment of at least six months.
- Attend monthly committee meetings (virtual) lasting approximately 1-2 hours.
- Additional time commitment will vary based on ongoing fundraising initiatives and events.
