Liftoff to Literacy, Ontario City Library’s adult literacy program, is seeking volunteer tutors to help adults learn to read! Adult learners with a reading or writing goal are paired with a volunteer tutor for one-to-one weekly instruction. With just a few hours a week, you can make a huge difference in the life of an adult learner! As a volunteer tutor, you’ll experience the joy of assisting someone reach their reading goals. The ideal tutor exhibits compassion and kindness and is an advocate for education at all levels. No tutoring or teaching experience is necessary, and all educational materials are provided for learning. Potential volunteers must complete tutor training, orientation, and a background check with the City of Ontario. For more information on Liftoff to Literacy visit: ontarioca.gov/adultliteracy.

No tutoring or teaching experience is required, but volunteer tutors should have an excellent grasp of the English language.
