Are you ready to make a real impact? Join Common Denominator in our mission to help in-need middle school students excel in math and build confidence through tutoring with a mentorship approach. Our goal is to ensure that students connect math to their everyday experiences and develop a keen interest in how math relates to themselves and the world around them.
As a volunteer, you’ll create a supportive and uplifting environment where students can explore, discover, and achieve those unforgettable "ah-ha" moments. With your guidance, they’ll strengthen Common Core math skills and discover new possibilities for their future.

Commitment & Schedule
Participate in one weekly session for 20 weeks from mid-October through May.
Sessions last 1 to 1.5 hours, with options to mentor virtually or in-person.
Choose from flexible session times that fit your schedule:
In-Person Sessions
Saturdays: 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM (Boys and Girls Club, Harlem)
Saturdays: 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM (Brooklyn Public Library, Bushwick)

To help underperforming NYC middle school students master fundamental math skills so that they have a strong foundation upon which they may develop critical thinking skills used in real life situations.
Description
Common Denominator, formerly known as Top Honors, is a not-for-profit, mathematics tutoring program that helps reinforce basic mathematical skills for middle school students. Common Denominator's unique and structured curriculum focuses on math concepts, real-life examples, and incorporates competitive mathematics-driven games that motivate students to learn.
