Child care volunteers assist our professional child care staff in delivering direct care for the children (newborn - age 6) who stay at the Nursery. Our child care volunteers are energetic, dependable, and flexible, and are ready to make a positive difference in the lives of children.

Child Care volunteers are required to fill out an application, meet for a [virtual] interview, complete a DHS background study, and attend a pre-scheduled orientation and training session.

Shifts at the following times are available 365 days per year:
7:30am-10:30am
10:00am-1:30pm
3:30pm-6:00pm
6:00pm-9:00/10:00pm

Commitment: 2.5-4 hour shifts, twice monthly for a minimum of 6 months.

Age Requirement: Volunteers must be 19 or older.

The mission of the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery is to end child abuse and neglect and create strong and healthy families.

Description

The Crisis Nursery provides voluntary, parent-initiated overnight residential care for children newborn through age six. Children can stay at the Crisis Nursery for up to 72-hours while their parent/guardian(s) work to alleviate their crisis. Additional services offered include a 24-hour crisis helpline and home visiting/mental health support.
