Fostering a dog is a rewarding and life saving opportunity that requires only the space in your heart and home for a four legged friend!
When you foster with Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue, you're saving TWO lives -- the dog you're personally fostering and the dog who took the space of your foster in the shelter. As a foster based organization, we pull from shelters in need, that are overwhelmed with how many dogs they have in care, but we can only pull dogs when we have foster space. We'll have dogs of all ages - from 6 weeks to 14 years old and all energy levels.
As a foster, you get to choose the dogs you care for! We can make recommendations and answer questions but ultimately the choice is yours. Additionally, if you have travel plans, we can move your foster to a temporary or secondary permanent foster placement so you can foster no matter what fun-in-the-sun you have planned for the summer or holiday plans you might have!

Laila's Legacy missions is to ensure every homeless dog - including those with behavioral or physical challenges - that comes through our doors has a chance at a better life while educating the public on breed bias, individualistic training, and the importance of spay-neuter to lower the impact of returned and abandoned animals in shelters.
Description
Laila's Legacy is a fully foster-based, volunteer run organization. This means we don't have a shelter to house our dogs, and rely on the community's support to foster our dogs, help us run volunteer events or fundraise. We're the first of our kind in the DMV region and only one of a few in the entire nation and we can't do this without the support of our community and the backing of dog lovers everywhere.
